CIMA programme on CUE

Qualification CIMA

Since October 2013, students of the Cracow University of Economics (CUE) (the Faculty of Finance and Law, specialty – Finance and Accounting, and the Faculty of Management, specialty Accounting and Controlling) have had the opportunity – within the framework of a common CUE-CIMA programme path, to earn a CIMA certificate (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) at the following levels:

  • Cert BA (The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting) oraz
  • DMA (Diploma in Management Accounting)

CIMA is a leading and the largest professional body of experts in the area of management accounting – it has more than 227,000 members and students in 179 countries. In 2017, the CIMA Institute (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) merged with AICPA (The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants).

The CIMA Qualification is a professional and globally recognised qualification in the field of management accounting. CIMA aims to provide its members with up-to-date knowledge in the area of finance and management accounting as well as to develop strategic thinking abilities and facilitate understanding of complex business processes. Thanks to the fact that the CIMA Qualification is widely recognised, the holders of relevant certificates are welcomed by employers representing both public and private financial sectors.

„Nowadays possessing a university degree has become a norm. Therefore, a special role is played by a continuous process of developing professional qualifications. They reflect candidates’ skills as well as their determination in pursuing personal goals. Otherwise, job opportunities and professional development are much limited.”
– Jakub Bejnarowicz Head of Central and Eastern Europe CIMA

The CUE-CIMA common programme enables students to gain thorough knowledge and practical skills currently required on the labour market. The Cracow University of Economics, in cooperation with CIMA, has launched a new educational programme at the Faculty of Finance and Law (as part of the major in Finance and Accounting, and a specially dedicated course Management Accounting – enrolment as of March 2019) and at the Faculty of Management (specialty – Accounting and Controlling). The educational programme under the CUE-CIMA path is offered for first cycle/BA and second cycle/MA full-time and part-time students.

Benefits resulting from a CIMA certificate obtained in the course of attending university studies include the following:

  • Acquiring thorough knowledge and practical skills in the area of management accounting.
  • Acquiring strategic thinking abilities and understanding of complex business processes.
  • Becoming experts, still as students, in the field of management accounting.
  • Demonstrating unique qualifications (resulting from a CIMA certificate) and increasing competitiveness on the labour market.
