CIMA President Amal Ratnayake met with the University Authorities

This year, for the first time in the history of cooperation between CIMA and the University of Economics in Krakow - CIMA President Amal Ratnayake FCMA, CGMA met with the University Authorities, academic staff, CIMA Ambassadors and students. The greeting of the President of CIMA, as well as ceremonial speeches were held with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Communication and Cooperation - prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Surówka, Dean of the College of Economics, Finance and Law - dr hab. Mariusz Andrzejewski, prof. UEK, CIMA Program Coordinator, Bogusław Wacławik, academic staff and representatives of CIMA in Poland: Sylwia Dubiel, University Partnerhsip Manager CEE and Maciej Szczygieł, Business Development Manger CEE.

Then, during the networking part in the Museum Hall, the President of CIMA could learn about the history of the University and Krakow. The representatives of the University and CIMA also had the opportunity to talk about further cooperation, exchange experiences and tips on higher education in the world.

The cooperation between The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and our University has been going on for several years and thanks to this, students of the University of Economics in Krakow have a wide range of opportunities to improve their qualifications on the labor market. Students can obtain a diploma in management accounting recognized all over the world during their studies.

At the end of the year, we also learned that the University of Economics in Krakow was nominated for the CIMA Excellence Awards in two categories:

- Teach Excellence Award - awarded to a teacher of the CIMA subject who showed great commitment in dealing with CIMA students and successfully helped them prepare for CIMA exams.
- Multiple Distinctions Award - Awarded to outstanding students in the CIMA Exam Pass category and the highest number of CIMA students on campus.

Therefore, we invite all students and lecturers to the CIMA Excellence Awards Ceremony, which will take place on December 11 this year.

MY STUDIES
I am a fifth year student of Finance and Accounting. I chose the specialty of accounting and financial audit.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AND CAREER GOALS
I am a member of the insurance student research club. On a daily basis, I combine studies with professional work in accounting. My professional goal is further developing in this area.

MY HOBBIES
I love traveling - both in the country and abroad. My interests also include reading books, sports and learning foreign languages.

CIMA AMBASSADOR
As a CIMA Ambassador, I will try to help anyone interested in joining the program. I decided to become a CIMA Ambassador because I would like to develop my skills and meet interesting people.

WORKSHOP ON FINANCIAL LIQUIDITY ANALYSIS

On November 6, the Workshop on Financial Liquidity Analysis took place at the Cracow University of Economics. This event was organized by the Accounting Club (KNR) in cooperation with CIMA. During the workshops, students from the KNR discussed in detail the most popular indicators that are used to assess the company's financial liquidity. After a short theoretical introduction, an example of practical use of the known method of analyzing financial statements has been presented. Participants also had the opportunity to test their knowledge, and the most active students were awarded with the special prizes! At the end of the event, CIMA Ambassador at the University, Katarzyna Korybko, gave a short presentation about the opportunities offered by participation in the CIMA Program at the University.

UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING DAY 2019

This year's University Management Accounting Day took place on October 21, 2019. The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants® (CIMA) organized the third edition of the event at the best economic universities in Poland. This year, for the first time, they were joined by universities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

University Management Accounting Day - a celebration of the management accounting profession - takes place every year and helps to connect scientists, students and employers. It is also a perfect way to educate CIMA’s prospective students about the future of finance, the updated CIMA Professional Qualification and the enhanced CGMA Competency Framework.

This year, Karen Phang, Associate Director at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, the unified voice of CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), delivered the event’s keynote speech on the importance of the collaboration between CIMA and universities across the world.

Participants also had the opportunity to learn about cybersecurity and business risk management in the digital age. This year's guest of the event was also Tomasz Klimek, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at International Airlines Group (IAG GBS)

After the lecture students had the opportunity to test their knowledge through the CIMA cybersecurity quiz (quiz.cgmastore.com). Later in the day, students participated in the CIMA Business Game. Through this interactive competition, students from Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary worked in teams on a business case study and find solutions to business problems. Over 70 teams from 14 universities across 6 countries took part in the competition and CIMA awarded 200 prizes to members of the winning team from each university.

Letnie Igrzyska z Rachunkowości – VI edycja (Kraków, 24 maja 2018 r.)

Zainteresowani o godzinie 16:00 w Sali 9 w Pawilonie Sportowym będą mieć okazję wysłuchać wykładu „CIMA Management Accounting - koszty istotne i nieistotne w podejmowaniu decyzji biznesowych". Wykład poprowadzi dr Bartosz Kurek z Katedry Rachunkowości Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Krakowie.

Po zakończonej prelekcji Studenci będą mieć możliwość porozmawiać z Ambasadorem o Programie CIMA na Uczelni.

On May 24, 2018, lecture "CIMA Management Accounting - relevant and irrelevant costs in making business decisions” took place as part of the Summer Olympics Competition with Accounting prof. dr hab. Bronislawa Micherda in Cracow. It was already the 6th edition of the event organized by the Accounting Students Association, Financial Audit Students Association and the Association of Young Accountants. This year, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants was the partner of the 6th edition of the Summer Olympics Competition with Accounting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the CIMA Program at the University of Economics in Cracow, which was presented by the CIMA Ambassador at the University - Magdalena Chaberka. Then the lecture entitled "CIMA Management Accounting - relevant and irrelevant costs in making business decisions” was hosted by Bartosz Kurek, PhD – professor at the Department of Accountancy at the University of Economics in Cracow, winner of numerous awards for scientific activities, including the βeta 2018 Prize for outstanding achievements in the field of financialmanagement.

Bartosz Kurek, PhD, provided us with the classification of relevant and irrelevant costs. Important aspects to consider when sharing costs are discussed. Students had the opportunity to learn many practical ways and interesting examples of cost calculation. Theoretical knowledge was once again explained and practiced while solving the prepared task from the cost calculation.

After the lecture, the CIMA Ambassador answered questions from the Students regarding the CIMA Program at the University of Economics in Cracow. Participants were provided with materials informing about the Program at the University as well as brochures about the CIMA Institute.

On April 25, 2018, CIMA Workshop "CIMA - be finance savvy" took place as part of the Festival of Controlling and Finance in Cracow. It was already the 7th edition of the Festival organized by the Controlling and Finance Students Association, supervised by Doctor Piotr Litwa. This year, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants was the partner of the 7th edition of the Festival.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the CIMA Program at the University of Economics in Cracow, which was presented by the CIMA Ambassador at the University - Magdalena Chaberka. Then the lecture entitled "CIMA - be finance savvy" was hosted by Mr. Jan Prystacki ACMA, CGMA - Finance Operations Manager at Alexander Mann Solutions, MBA graduate at Cracow School of Business & St. Gallen Business School.

Mr. Jan Prystacki talked about his career path, until he became CIMA Member and what he does now. Students were also introduced to the subject of management accounting, where and how it is used during work. Mr. Jan also discussed the CGMA Competency Framework and the benefits of being a CIMA Member, as well as the professional qualification of CIMA. After the lecture, the representative of CIMA Poland, Mrs. Sylwia Dubiel - University Partnership Manager and CIMA Ambassador, answered questions from the Students regarding the CIMA Program at the University of Economics in Cracow. Participants were provided with materials informing about the Program at the University as well as brochures about the CIMA Institute.

We hope that the participants were interested in management accounting and as a result CIMA certification.

4 Sfery Kariery

Tegoroczne 4 Sfery Kariery organizowane przez Akademickie Centrum Kariery odbyły się 17 kwietnia 2018 w godz. 11:00-15:00 w pawilonie Sportowym.

Na targach swoje stoisko miała również CIMA, gdzie można było dowiedzieć się jak przebiega realizacja Programu CIMA na Uczelni. To kolejna możliwość poznania szczegółów certyfikacji CIMA na Uniwersytecie Ekonomicznym w Krakowie.

On 17 and 18 April at the University of Economics in Krakow, the fifth edition of the "4 career zones" job fair took place.

Last year's edition of the event turned out to be a valuable experience for both students and employers, therefore CIMA also had its stand at the fair. Ambassador Magdalena Chaberka provided information on recruitment and the course of the CIMA Program at the University.
